A new episode for Withered Hands Podcast ON STAGE! This time we had the pleasure to live record OMMADON and to interview and live record 11 PARANOIAS. Everything happened the last Saturday, January 31st, 2015 for a show booked by COSMIC CARNAGE!
We already knew OMMADON and we introduced them last year during “Of Nightmares And Darkness” (of which soon or later we should get the last part out as we’re waiting for a band to contact us in order to book the last interview for it) during the show on which we had also Stephen O’Malley. It’s been a pleasure to meet them again and be there with them for a hell of a show!
Hope you’re goin to enjoy their live performance as much as I did and I really hope you’re goin to give them some support. I think their latest LP titled V should be still available either through Burning Word Records or Dry Cough Records (label which is pressing some amazing bands lately!). You can find them on Fb or on bandcamp through the following links below.

As I said during the little intro on this part of the show, I’ve been following 11 PARANOIAS not since that long ago. I’ve been a good supporter of RAMESSES over the past 12 years more or less and I had the pleasure to watch BONG playing live in London quite a few times before. When I got to see both of the bands combined together on stage I already knew something great was goin’ to happen.
After the first time I watched them live at The Underworld in Camden a few months ago I couldn’t avoid to take a note about them and write their name on my little black book! These guys are quite experimental compared to the bands they come from but I think that was probably the only way to go considering their background. Their psychedlic sound soaked in doom and late ’70s horror soundtracks is the answer to their experimentation. Catchy riffing mixed to more spaced bits, haunting vocals, heavy drumming and a massive dose of personality make of this band one of the greatest and most original bands in today’s scene. Moving far from sludgier territories they mix the best of both BONG and RAMESSES into an unpredictable beast, creating new “directions” through an over saturated underground scene.
They leave the listener almost addicted at the end of the show and I would have loved them to stop and start again straight from the beginning once again!
Supported by Ritual Records, their latest album “Stealing Fire From Heaven” is probably the best incarnation of the band so far and it’s goin to be soon available on vinyl for all of you addicted out there!
Check them out through the links below and enjoy their interview and show!!!

][ Of Nightmares And Darkness ][ PART III ][ Sons Of The Drone ][

Deeper and deeper in the nightmare!
This is the episode number 3 of 4 for “Of Nightmares And Darkness” the show aiming to give an insight into modern extreme doom metal music in Europe! As you might know if you’ve listened to the preview show or re(a)d something about it , we tried to gather European bands who tried to converge in their style loads of different influences creating something somehow “new” in what is the typical music direction of most of the modern funeral doom metal bands and extreme metal bands. As it has happened for the previous two shows, this whole project is not just about European extreme metal bands! During the show we play some other funeral doom metal bands and we try to find artists willing to give an image to rappresent the show and the main idea behind the show. We want to get the listener 200% into the show by getting him lost into it, feeling the nightmares and darkness we named the show after.

On this third show, titled “Sons Of The Drone”, we move onto the doomy drone influences of this new genre and we try to find a connection in between the bands we’ve been playing on the first two shows and those we play today.

The people involved in this second episode are:

MISANTHROPIC ART, who provided us with the amazing image appeared on our new flyer and promo video.
Quoting the short bio and presentation on the artist’s Fb page: “I’m a freelance illustrator born in Nuremberg, Germany. Since 2001 I’ve been designing album covers, logos and merchandise for alternative/metal music bands and labels. I work mostly in pen and ink, but also in acrylic and mixed media..”. This guy has been working with a great number of bands lately and he’s a real interesting artist! You can see some of his artworks and creations through his official web page at http://www.misanthropic-art.de/ or visit is Fb paget at https://www.facebook.com/misanthropicartdesign/timeline

SOL, the Danish band started by Emil Brahe in the early 00’s, who provided us with the background music you can hear during the whole show. Quoting the little biography I’ve found about the band: “SOL is a Danish doom metal band started by Emil Brahe in the early 00′s. He debuted in 2007 on Ván Records with the crushing funeral doom album Let There Be A Massacre and has since released numerous albums in a variety of styles on different labels. Often with a varying cast of collaborators. While most SOL works have a common denominator in themes of fear, esotericism and destruction, they differ in the form they are presented in: From acoustic drones over dark reed organ atmospherics and occult folk music to the heavy crushing doom metal sound he somehow always returns to and invigorates with his open approach to dark musical expression.” The project’s last works are all available on free download through http://drowning.cc/bands/sol
and you can get in touch with the band through the same page!

STEPHEN O’MALLEY, icon of the drone scene and incredible artist!
“.. musician, predominantly a guitarist, producer and composer from Seattle, Washington who has conceptualized and participated in numerous drone doom, death/doom, and experimental music groups (the most notable of which is Sunn O))))” I think these informations are enough!
